Phil Wilson – Monday at Old Ironsides

Phil Wilson (of The June Brides) will stop by Sacramento this Monday night, July 21st at Old Ironsides on his way between shows in Portland and San Francisco. The show starts at 8:00 PM. Also on the bill, the English Singles and Baby Grand.

Phil Wilson & The June Brides were a great English indie pop band from the mid 80’s. They were championed by John Peel, and Morrissey (who rated them his favorite group of 1985), as well journalists Everett True, and Dave Eggers.  In fact, they’re still name dropped by likes of Belle & Sebastian, Primal Scream as well as the Manic Street Preachers, and Television Personalities, both of which have contributed songs to a June Brides tribute album in 2006.
