All-Ages Venues In Sacramento

Today’s Sacramento Bee had a nice article on all-ages music venues here in Sactown. Hey, music doesn’t care how old you are! You can read their article here.

It begins:

Much has been made of midtown and downtown Sacramento’s resurgent night life scene, with its wine bars and swank cocktail lounges. But a different renaissance is occurring as well – one less shiny, more grass-roots and definitely aimed at a younger crowd.

Sacramento’s all-ages music scene, once mostly spread out to suburban venues such as the Boardwalk and Club Retro, both in Orangevale, has centralized over the past few years and especially the past several months, with several intriguing all-ages (as opposed to 21-plus or 18-plus) venues opening either in or within a guitar pick’s throw of midtown.

And it goes on from there, check it out. Then let us know, did they get it right? Did they leave out the best place? If you have an opinion or an addition, feel free to leave us a comment.

Luigi’s Hosts Jarrod Gorbel (Honorary Title)

Jarrod Gorbel, the man behind the Honorary Title, is headed out on his first solo tour, bringing him to Luigi’s Fungarden TOMORROW! Show is at 7:30pm and all ages.

From his site:

The Honorary Title began several years ago as a moniker for Brooklyn singer-songwriter Jarrod Gorbel’s solo folk musings, but later evolved into the full-fledged quartet responsible for 2007’s critically acclaimed Scream and Light Up the Sky (Doghouse/Warner Bros.) Gorbel has come full circle this year, stepping out from behind the Honorary Title name and recording two remarkable new discs. His recently-released tour EP, Ten Years Older and the upcoming Devil’s Made A New Friend – Gorbel’s debut solo LP – mine classic soul, traditional folk and Americana, incorporating strings, horns and female backing vocals for a sound more lush and organic than any of his previous work.
