National Record Store Day

It’s Saturday, April 19, 2008. Finally a holiday that really matters! The national web site is here, check it out. Then get down to your local independent record store and see what they are doing to celebrate! See you at The Beat, R5, Hot Dog, or Dimple. Or all of ‘em…

R5 – Grand Opening! Really!

Yeah, they opened in June for a ‘soft opening’, but the REAL grand opening is this weekend, September 8 and 9. They promise food and giveaways. We shall see about that. But they do have over a dozen bands lined up to play. The lineup for both days includes Mumbo Gumbo, Helper Monkeys, Secretions, The Snobs, Pets, Hot Pistol, and many more!

The Record Store

Did you know that Records has moved? Yes, I mean the huge record store that used to be on the K Street Mall. Now it’s at 1618 Broadway. The old store was known for a huge amount of vinyl (and for being used on the cover of DJ Shadow’s album). Check out the new location. Support our local record stores or else the terrorists will win!

R5 Is Alive!

Even though Tower Records is gone, founder Russ Solomon has just opened R5 Records in the old Tower building at 16th and Broadway. Welcome back, Russ! Everyone go on out and show him some love.

Here’s what the local paper had to say about it recently:
