This year’s One Love One Heart Reggae Festival will take place on the three day Labor Day weekend, from Saturday, September 3 at 12:00pm - September 5 at 11:00am at 10000 Garden Hwy. For more info about tickets, camping, etc check out their Facebook page.

Come out this weekend for “Schools Out For Summerfest”! The will be a battle of the bands featuring 10 crowd drawing bands battling it out for best of the best and finishing the night with the headliner band, Alien Ant Farm, playing after the battle. And there’s more! Food, drinks, raffle, festival gear, and vendors. Lots of fun and music. You should go…

R. Stevie Moore At KDVS Festival

Cult legend R. Stevie Moore, known in many circles as “The Godfather of Home Recording,” will be headlining KDVS‘ Operation: Restore Maximum Freedom Festival XI (more info) at Plainfield Station in Davis, California on May 14. This will be his first-ever show in The Golden State.

From his bio:

R. Stevie Moore has self-released more than 400 albums over the past three and a half decades, all from his home in Bloomfield, New Jersey. Rolling Stone Magazine has called him “a national treasure unrecognized in his homeland.” According to The New York Times, R. Stevie “owns a cult following of international rock snobs.” Yet, despite all this, the reclusive pop genius found himself on the brink of homelessness this past December. With few options, he returned to his hometown of Nashville, where he has gotten his second wind. Since the move, he has recorded a new, soon-to-be-released album with funds raised on KickStarter, has begun rehearsing with a new and devout backing band called Tropical Ooze, and is in the midst of orchestrating his first-ever world tour. Further, the tour will be filmed for an upcoming documentary on his life and work. Moore has even set up a new KickStarter campaign to help pay for the up-front costs of his impending world tour. However, May 7th, the deadline for fund raising, is fast approaching. R. Stevie has been the underdog for too many years. It’s time for him to have his day in the sun, and his fans can help him get there.

Blues-A-Rama This Weekend

The Sacramento Heritage Festival Blues-A-Rama show is this Sunday, February 13th, at 2:00 PM (doors at 1:00). Rick Estrin and the Nightcats headline with Ray Bailey, Chris Cain, Ron Thompson, and more. Get all the info at the official web site.

It happens at the Horseman’s Club, 3200 Longview Drive and tickets are $15 at The Beat and the door if there are any left. Proceeds will help buy musical instruments for area schools.

2nd Annual Sacramento Electronic Music Festival

This is a 3-day independent music festival that was developed to showcase emerging Sacramento artists alongside internationally renowned talent. SEMF 2011 features nearly 30 talented artists from Sacramento and beyond — January 27th, 28th, and 29th at the Townhouse Lounge, address is 1517 21st Street.

Sacramento Electronica Music Festival

The Sacramento Electronica Music Festival (SEMF) will take place later this month, January 28th-30th, at the Townhouse Lounge. The venue is located at 1517 21st Street in Sacramento, CA.

The festival will feature a variety of multi-genre electronica acts from the Sacramento area and beyond. SEMF will take place over three days in January. Performers will include acclaimed electronica artists like Tycho, The New Humans, Dusty Brown, Tha Fruitbat, Seventh Swami, Melee Beats, Sister Crayon, and many more.

Autumn Sky Anti-Folk Festival And Birthday

Come to Marilyn’s on Sunday October 11 and help celebrate the birthday of local singer-songwriter Autumn Sky. She is described on the Marilyn’s site thus: “beautiful jazz voice major, composes, sings all of her songs, plays a lot of instruments and is performing with a full band which she has not done in a long time”. She’s also calling it her “Anti-Folk Festival” and will be supported by local acts Walking Spanish, Clemon’, Todd Morgan and the Emblems, All on Seven, Ryan McCarroll, and Dante Romandia.

Music Festival Near Sacramento

Ok, ok, it’s about an hour away. But that’s pretty close and there are some local artists included so we’ll mention it here. From their press release:

The American River Music Festival is a celebration of music and moving water, taking place Sept. 18, 19 and 20 throughout the friendly river community of Coloma. The festival offers over 25 performances and workshops at our main stage, in three riverfront campgrounds, on our whitewater river trip, on our guided riverfront hike in Magnolia Ranch, and at local restaurants.

The music is mixture of Americana, Folk and Blues with performers coming from throughout North America including [former Sacramento singer-songwriter] Jackie Greene and Tim Bluhm (of The Mother Hips) who together are The Skinny Singers, Jimmy LaFave, Eliza Gilkyson and Nina Gerber, City Folk (with Keith Greeninger), Blame Sally, Handful of Luvin, Jonny Mojo with MindX, Fret Not Gospel, Twilight Hotel, Danny Schmidt and many more.
