Wishing You Well, Stacie Eakes

One of Sacramento’s favorite and best blues singers is leaving. Yes, Stacie Eakes is moving to the East Coast. Moving all the way to Delaware to be specific. She’s been playing the Torch Club here for years and has developed quite a following. There’s a nice write-up in the current SubMerge (issue 39). Her last show before she moves is July 31st at (of course) the Torch Club.

SubMerge says she’ll be back in October for the Blues For Life cancer benefit and also a New Years Eve show with The Superfreakes. That’s good to know. You are always welcome here in Sacramento, Stacie…

Sacramento Red Carpet Music Awards

From their news release:

SACSHOWS TO HOST SACRAMENTO’S FIRST EVER RED CARPET MUSIC AWARDS SHOW / JERRY PERRY TO BE HONORED

On Sunday, August 16, 2009 SacShows will host the 1st Annual SacShows Local Music Awards at Empire Events Center in Downtown Sacramento.  SacShows has invited local celebrity guests and rolled out the red carpet (literally) for ALL local musicians to celebrate the local music community.  With guest presenters from local radio stations (98 Rock, 100.5 The Zone, & the now-changed KWOD 106.5) SacShows will be recognizing the best artists in Sacramento in a different style than others have in the past.

Local Sacramento music legend, Jerry Perry, will be honored at this awards event by receiving the first ever SacShows Hall of Fame Award.  Perry will be honored for his continued hard work and dedication to the local Sacramento music scene over the past 20+ years.

Looks like a fun evening honoring Sacramento music!

Skeletons with Flesh on Them

Seattle indie rock band Skeletons with Flesh on Them will be visiting Sacramento for the first time on July 27. They’re playing at R5 Records at 5 pm and The Java Lounge at 7 pm. Come on out and show them some Sacramento love. Let’s just hope it’s not 104 degrees that day (like today). Whatever, just know that they have released their first album.
